We tried the nodpod for better sleep, and this is what happened

My husband and I couldn't be on more opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to our sleeping patterns and habits.

He is asleep the moment his head hits the pillow, and I am usually still stirring for hours after climbing in bed. Contrastingly, once I am asleep, I am not to be bothered, but he is awoken at any noise or small movement.

Even though we follow healthy sleep habits consistently, these dynamics can sometimes lead to a less-than-restful night’s sleep. And with both of us working and taking care of a houseful of kiddos, we need our sleep.

After a recommendation from a friend with similar sleep challenges, we recently learned about the nodpod and decided to give it a try. As a sleep professional working in this industry for over a decade, I have seen many products come and go, so I wasn’t convinced this was going to change our lives in any way, but I figured it couldn’t hurt.

The nodpod is basically a headband filled with microbeads that distributes weight evenly to pressure points and is supposed to help with deeper and better sleep. It is super light-weight, ties on easily, and comfortably sits over your eyes while you sleep.

After about a week of wearing the sleep mask, I must say I was pretty surprised by our experience. I noticed there was a considerable difference in the time it took me to fall asleep, and in the few times my husband woke up in the middle of the night, he fell back asleep much more easily when wearing the nodpod.

I’m generally not a fan of wearing things on my face, so I wasn’t sure how this was going to go, but the material is actually very soft and somehow calming. It fits any size and easily adjusts depending on how snug you want it. We also found that it helps to block out any outside light, which is particularly needed in our situation since our it is almost inevitable that one of us is getting up to go to the bathroom and having to flip the light on.

I also tested out the nodpod when I was experiencing migraines in my first trimester of this pregnancy, and the pressure helped relieve my headache!

If you are experiencing trouble sleeping, there might be several causes that need to be addressed first, but the nodpod seems to be a simple solution, and I encourage you to give it a try. It isn’t invasive and is a relatively small investment.

There aren’t many products I put a stamp of approval on personally and professionally, but this is one that I was pleasantly surprised by and I bet you will be, too!
