The easiest and softest swaddle you’ll want for your baby

Swaddling your newborn baby is a practice that has been around for decades as a way to help calm your newborn and lead to better sleep (see The benefits of swaddling your baby). Most parents would agree that finding a good swaddle is one of those must-haves for your registry list.

These days there are a lot of options for swaddles, from Velcro to tie bottoms and everything in between - but when I first saw a video about the Swado swaddle, I was intrigued.

A swaddle that closes tightly like Velcro and is easily adjustable, but is also silent? A swaddle that is both beautifully soft, but still practical and strong? I couldn’t wait to test it for myself! Swado generously gave us the opportunity to test their product, in order to write an honest review for our audience.

Upon trying out the swaddle, my first impression was YES, this swaddle IS soft. It is definitely softer and feels more breathable compared to any of the other swaddles I own.

Next I tried the Velcro-type wings (made with “GoodCatch” fastening fabric) - and oh my goodness, YES, it IS quiet! I don't know what kind of magic they used to make that happen, but it is pretty incredible. Much more pleasing to the ears than the typical Velcro rrrriiiiippppppp.

It came with a separate little laundry bag to put the swaddle in before washing. I'm a throw-all-the-laundry-in-the-same-bag kind of mom, so I'll have to get used to remembering the extra step of putting the Swado in this little bag first, but it is a small price to pay for something to stay so soft!

If you are trying the Swado for the first time with a small newborn, you will definitely want to go with a size small, which still ran a little big for us, but he will definitely grow into it.

Overall, I am a big fan of the Swado swaddle! As compared to a Velcro swaddle, it's quieter, softer, more breathable, and even has some neat lower flaps that Velcro swaddles typically don't have, helping those little hands stay inside. It’s also organic cotton! As compared to a cloth blanket swaddle, the Swado is easier, stronger, faster, more secure, and also has more leg room.

If you’re wondering why the price tag on this swaddle is a little more than you might pay for an average Velcro swaddle, it is because this isn’t your average swaddle! The benefits are definitely clear!
