Discover how to support your baby’s sleep from 0-12 months
What do I do if my baby isn’t getting the amount of sleep they need?
Although you should know that your baby’s sleep doesn’t need to match exactly with your neighbor’s baby’s sleep, keeping those recommended totals in mind is a great place to start.
Why is my baby waking up so much at night?
How to handle middle of the night wake-ups is something that nobody can prepare for, despite how many warnings you received before becoming a parent. Good news! We can help!

The biggest challenges & misconceptions with sleep training/teaching
What are some of those myths and misconceptions about sleep training? What surprises parents the most about the way we approach their child’s sleep issues? Here, we dig in.
My journey with sleep teaching & my daughter
I can confidently and truthfully say that teaching my daughter independent sleep skills changed my life. It changed me as a mother, as a wife, as a friend and as a working professional. My experience with sleep training is not particularly unique, but if you are reading this because you are on the fence about implementing healthy sleep habits in your child's life, I am here to tell you that it was the best parental decision that I have yet to make.
What our parents may not know about safe sleep practices
Safe sleeping practices have also changed with regards to crib safety – and unfortunately not all of them are as well known as the Back to Sleep Campaign. In the spirit of learning how to keep your baby safe in their crib, I am going to “pick-on” my own mother a little (who raised 4 children in the 80s/90s!), and share some of the tips she gave me when I was a new mom. I’ll also tell you why these suggestions may no longer be the best advice to follow.
Are you overlooking these sleep cues?
When most people think of a tired baby, they may think of a sweet little yawn followed by nuzzling into mom or dad to take a nap. In reality, a tired baby can take on many forms. Parents know that a tired baby is often not a sweet little bundle but more often a fussy ball of emotion. Learning to read sleep cues can help parents avoid the overtired phase that leads to dramatic outbursts. I have found that there are three phases babies go through as they approach the need for sleep.
How do I know if my baby is getting enough sleep?
Toddlers (1-2 years): 11-14 hours (or up to 15)
If your baby is falling into this range, you can typically feel confident that your baby is getting what they need. But in addition to the recommended hours of sleep, you should also be on the lookout for the indicators we talk about in this blog!
How to save on-the-go naps
Have you found yourself in this scenario? You and the baby go out to run a few quick errands between awake windows with the goal to make it home in time for a nap. All is going as planned, you look at your watch and see you will make it just in time. You are 5 minutes away; you look in the back seat to check on your little one and you notice she is sound asleep! The panic sets in and you think to yourself “Oh dear, what do I do now?”.
